Guy Vernon Smith MC〔(NPG details )〕 (15 October 1880 – 11 June 1957) was an Anglican bishop in the mid 20th century. Smith was educated at Winchester〔“Who was Who” 1897-1990 London, A & C Black, 1991 ISBN 0-7136-3457-X〕 and New College, Oxford. Ordained in 1907, he began his ministry with a curacy at Romford and was then chaplain to Arthur Winnington-Ingram, the Bishop of London, before World War I service as a chaplain to the British Armed Forces.〔(Great War Forum )〕 From 1919 until 1925, he was the rector of Hackney and then the Archdeacon of Colombo before his ordination to the episcopate as Bishop of Willesden.〔''Ecclesiastical News.
